Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important representative said the attack made him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
